Made to be usable
Accessibility in Veil
Playing a sound, adjusting it, and setting a timer should be straightforward. Veil's iPhone accessibility support includes VoiceOver, Larger Text, Reduced Motion, and a Dark Interface, as declared on its App Store listing.
This page explains the features and where to find the relevant settings. It describes the app's accessibility features, rather than claiming every device or assistive technology has been tested.
VoiceOver sound controls on iPhone
Veil labels sound cards and playback controls for VoiceOver, including sound names and selected or playing states. Adjustable volume controls provide increase and decrease actions, so changing volume does not depend on a precise drag.
- Turn on VoiceOver in iPhone Settings > Accessibility > VoiceOver.
- On Home, focus a sound card to hear its name and state, then activate it to play or stop. Choosing another unlocked sound switches playback.
- For an unlocked sound with tone controls, use its Tune accessibility action to open sound adjustments.
- Use the adjustable volume control's increase and decrease actions to change its level.
White, pink, and brown noise and Slow Fan are free. Other sounds and mixing require Premium. Tapping a locked sound opens the upgrade screen with a preview of that sound.
Larger Text
Veil follows the iPhone's system text-size setting. Key screens use scrolling, wrapping, and layout adjustments to keep controls reachable at larger sizes.
In iPhone Settings, open Accessibility > Display & Text Size > Larger Text. Enable Larger Accessibility Sizes if needed, then choose a comfortable size. Your device, language, and text size can affect how much fits on screen at once.
Reduced Motion
With the system Reduce Motion preference enabled, Veil's waveform becomes a static visual. Timer and Bedside Clock animation paths also respect that preference. Audio keeps playing independently of the waveform.
Turn it on in iPhone Settings > Accessibility > Motion > Reduce Motion.
A dark interface with adjustable brightness
Veil uses a dark interface throughout the app. You can adjust app brightness in Settings > Appearance to find a comfortable level. Bedside Clock Mode has its own appearance controls for overnight use.
Brightness preferences are personal. A dimmer setting is not automatically easier to read, so choose a level that lets you identify the controls comfortably.
What about Android and TalkBack?
Veil is also available on Android, with labeled controls and accessibility actions in the app. The published accessibility declarations described above apply to the iPhone version. We have not established an equivalent complete TalkBack task pass, so we do not claim full TalkBack support here.
