Privacy Policy
Effective August 18, 2026
This Privacy Policy describes how Veil: White Noise & Sleep Sounds ("Veil", "we", "our") handles information when you use our mobile application. Veil has no account system and no Veil-operated application backend. Sound generation and your listening preferences stay on your device. A limited set of third-party services processes purchase, analytics, diagnostic, and optional advertising data as described below.
Information We Collect
Veil does not ask for your name, email address, or account credentials. The app assigns a random anonymous identifier for analytics and reliability reporting. This identifier is not used to identify you by name.
Veil saves the following preferences locally to your device using iOS Secure Storage or Android Keystore:
- Your last-used sounds and volume settings, so the app restores your session on reopen
- Your premium unlock status
- Your saved sound mixes and custom names
- Your visualizer and greeting preferences
Your sounds, mixes, volume settings, and customization preferences are not uploaded. Uninstalling the app removes those locally stored preferences.
Third-Party Services
Veil integrates a small number of third-party SDKs. Each service operates under its own privacy policy.
RevenueCat (in-app purchases). When you view plans, purchase, manage, or restore Premium, RevenueCat processes store product and entitlement information. It may receive an app-specific identifier, purchase history, subscription status, and transaction receipt. Veil and RevenueCat do not receive your payment card details; Apple or Google handles billing. RevenueCat Privacy Policy
Google Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics. Veil uses Firebase Analytics to understand anonymous product usage and purchase funnels, and Crashlytics to diagnose crashes and playback reliability. These services may process an anonymous app identifier, device and operating-system information, app interactions, purchase events, diagnostics, performance data, and crash logs. Analytics collection is disabled while Veil is in the background. Google Privacy Policy
Google AdMob (optional advertising). Veil includes the AdMob SDK, but ads are currently disabled and the SDK is not initialized for ad delivery. If banner advertising is enabled in a future version, AdMob may process an advertising identifier and general device information. Premium users do not receive ads. Google Privacy Policy
Permissions
Veil requests only the permissions required for audio playback:
- Audio session (iOS): required to play sound through the speaker and continue playback when the screen locks
- Foreground service / media playback (Android): required to maintain playback when the app is in the background
- Modify audio settings (Android): required to control system audio routing
Veil does not request microphone, camera, location, contacts, or any other sensitive permission.
Children's Privacy
Veil is designed for adults and is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children. If you have concerns, please contact us at the address below.
Data Retention and Deletion
Deleting Veil removes locally stored preferences and settings. RevenueCat and Google retain information according to their own policies and legal obligations. Device settings may provide additional analytics or advertising controls.
Changes to This Policy
If we update this Privacy Policy, the new version will be published at this URL and within the app. The effective date at the top of this page will be updated accordingly. Continued use of Veil after any change constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
